My Role: Program developer/producer, curriculum developer and project manager for 83 live, interactive television programs (many with integrated videoconferencing) and accompanying print and web-based curricula/activities
Distinctions: Two Emmy nominations, three first place national distance learning awards (Telecon/USDLA); one semifinalist international award (GII, Global Information Infrastructure)
I developed, concept to completion, programs ranging from life in the Stone Age to an interactive journey through the Costa Rican rainforest (in Spanish) to the French influence in southeast Asia (in French), to lessons of the Holocaust, and combating child labor worldwide. All programs align with state and national standards and most have both print and online curricula. See my program chart for a complete listing.
Peace It Together, a two year USDOE Safe and Drug-free Schools and Communities grant-funded teen violence prevention project, was one of my most significant accomplishments. I studied the benchmarks and outcomes of the grant and created a 16 part teen violence prevention series, a comprehensive curriculum for each program, and a multiple-national-award-winning website, The Peace It Together On-line Community Center.
My background in literacy and biliteracy was instrumental to MCET's receiving a $9.5 million Star Schools grant from the USDOE for reading and literacy. Transitions Through Telecommunications utilized state-of-the-art technologies to serve students, parents and teachers in economically underserved sites in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York and Washington, DC.
Through my work I created partnerships with many educational, community and cultural organizations including Harvard University's School of Public Health, Harvard's Peabody Museum, American Museum of Natural History, NY, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, ADL, Survivors of the Shoa Visual History Center, and The Oral History Center at Northeastern University, to name a few.
